I know, I know, it's been a while. But I've been away enjoying the last weeks of summer and just started a new freelance gig. It's been a crazy month! I'm excited to be back today with one of my favorite topics: fall fashion. I cannot tell you how many clothes I have bookmarked on my laptop right now. I find myself gravitating towards my usual style but wanting to place around with more statement pieces, too.
One of the biggest things I've noticed this year is that color is here to stay, even through the fall. We always see those hints of burgundy once the cooler months come around, but I'm loving this mustard yellow trend. I think it looks get on skin tone and hair color, but being blonder right now, it totally brings out the blonde in my hair.
Without fail, like any Buffalo girl, I'm infatuated with sweaters, jeans, and leggings. But this year I want to take things to the next level and have more fun with accessories. Whether it's a really awesome statement pair of boots or a heel, I'm definitely thinking a how to style post will be coming your way as soon as it's cold enough! I'm already trying to figure out how to make Bills game attire "me." Nothing a little texture (like black ripped jeans) can't help!
Last year was the year of cardigans for me, so while I still need to add a black one to my collection, my focus this fall is definitely going to be on jackets. I used to have such a big collection and somehow over the years it's gotten much smaller. I'm on the hunt for the perfect faux leather jacket & need to finally one that fits my vision of an Olivia Pope inspired classic look.
POPLIN & SATIN
I've been seeing a lot lightweight cotton pieces lately in dresses, tops, and menswear inspired tunics. My favorite part of this ongoing trend is the volume that comes with the pieces, whether its a peplum top, off the shoulder, or A-Line dress. We've been seeing the silky satiny pieces for a while now and I'm so happy it's here to stay. There's something so delicate about a silky piece. You can tough it up with a harder material like leather (my leather skirt I just got on clearance at Express is my prized possession at the moment!) or tone it down with some boyfriend jeans and heels.
I'm ready to completely revamp my shoe collection. Being a 10/11, this isn't easy #tallgirlproblems. But I have found that 6pm.com has SO many options. Plus our Nordstrom Rack has an extensive collection for all us suffering from the "ugh why can't I be a size 9" scenario. For everyday wear, I've been into the athleisure look of wearing my Addidas. I want to invest in another pair of sneakers so see if I can stick to that cool girl city vibe. Also on my wishlist are another pair of riding boots and those above the ankle booties that will make me feel like a French girl. I can picture it now: camel outer layer, striped shirt, leather skirt or leggings, and a pair of over the ankle booties. All I need is a bright red lip to complete the look. I also need to find the perfect nude pointy heel, ASAP.
If you can't tell.. I've been daydreaming about fall a lot these past few weeks. Bring it on Buffalo, I'm ready for you.
